Llais Signs the Armed Forces Covenant

NEWS 27 November 2025

In November, Llais, the Citizen's Voice body for health and social care in Wales was delighted to sign the Armed Forces Covenant during the Armed Forces in Wales – Employer Conference at Cardiff City Stadium. This pledge, was signed by Llais' Chair Professor Medwin Hughes and Alyson Thomas, Chief Executive.  The signing confirms Llais' commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community – including serving personnel, veterans and their families.

By signing the Covenant, Llais has reinforced its commitment to the Armed Forces community and ensuring they are not disadvantaged when accessing Llais services.

We will:

  • Ensure fair and equal access to Llais services.
  • Consider the unique needs of the Armed Forces community in all engagement and consultation activities.
  • Explore opportunities to support veterans and reservists in employment.
  • Raise awareness among Llais staff about the challenges faced by the Armed Forces community.

To make sure our pledge translates into meaningful action that benefits the Armed Forces community, Llais has also appointed a strategic senior lead to champion the Covenant within the organisation.

This role will help embed its principles into Llais policies and practices, and ensuring that the Armed Forces community is also considered in our work with NHS and social care organisations.
