What we do

Llais West Wales Region is here to make sure your views and experiences are used by decision-makers to plan and deliver better health and social care services in your local area.

We hear from the public in many different ways. We visit NHS and social care services to talk to patients, residents and carers.  We talk to people at public events, and through community groups.

Our Advocacy Service helps people who want to raise a concern about care or treatment.

We use surveys, apps and social media to engage with our community, and we produce reports on what we've heard.

West Wales Region - Learning Disabilities Report March 2025

We know that we don’t often hear from people with learning disabilities about their views and experiences of health and social care. This means that we need to make more of an effort to find out their views and experiences. Instead of waiting for people to contact Llais to share their views, we need to meet with people with learning disabilities, their carers, friends, families and others, to see what we can find out and what they want to share with us.

Llais response to the EHRC code of practice consultation

The Equality and Human Rights Commission consultation asked organisations for feedback on changes to the code of practice following a Supreme Court decision which clarified definitions of legal sex in relation to the Equality Act 2010. This has important implications for how organisations define and handle issues relating to sex and gender identity. This is our response.

Raising a concern about health and social care services

When things go wrong, raising your concern can seem “a step too far” or too time-consuming, especially as it may be at a particularly difficult time.

But raising your concern in the right way is important. It can make a positive difference to others, preventing the same happening to them and ensuring our future care is better.

We can help with complaints advocacy

If you need to raise a concern about an NHS or social care service, you can talk to us. Our trained, dedicated complaints advocacy staff will provide you with the free, independent, and confidential support you are entitled to.

and one of our team will talk to you about your concern, what sort of help you think you require and if you have any particular needs such as large print materials or access to someone who can sign.
